Stable Court residential House
THE FUTURE IN RESIDENTIAL CARE IN RURAL HUDDERSFIELD
Stable Court Victorian Residential Home Stable Court Victorian Residential Home

Stable Court is a private residential home for retired gentlefolk who by reason of increasing age are no longer able to live a fully independent life and find it difficult to manage their own home. We cater for people who may need companionship or security or who may need some help with personal care and assistance with daily living activities. Stable Court is not a nursing home. We are limited to take residents whose physical and mental abilities require no special, frequent or nursing care other than that which a caring relative would be expected to give. We do not take residents who smoke. We take privately or Local Authority funded residents.

Walking the landscaped grounds

Stable Court stands in its own mature wooded and landscaped grounds of about half an acre. The courtyard is a special feature of the home and it has been landscaped to create a picturesque focal point with hanging baskets and seating areas. It has a sheltered and sunny aspect and is a favourite place for residents to sit out in warmer weather. Afternoon tea is regularly served here during the summer months.

Stable Court is situated off the main Huddersfield road in the village of Meltham. It is in a quiet residential area that is level and within easy walking distance of the local shops, pubs, library, chemist, G.P. surgery, Post Office and church. Meltham Hall Park is close by and provides a pleasant outing for residents who enjoy a leisurely stroll. The bus route to Huddersfield passes the end of Bishops Way for those who may like to go further afield. The countryside around Meltham offers plenty of beautiful scenery, being on the edge of National Trust moorland extending into the High Peak District.

Short term, respite or holiday care is available at Stable Court. This is ideal for the individual who is in need of a time of rest or recuperation or to give a caring relative a break. We also offer a full day care service including assistance with hygiene or bathing social interaction, activities, lunch, tea, plus use of any of the home's facilities. This provides a useful bridge for the person who is thinking about residential care but is not yet ready to give up their own home.

Anyone who is interested is welcome to visit the home by appointment. They can stay for a meal to enable them to meet the Residents and Care teams and get an idea of what the home is like. If acceptable we will visit a prospective Resident in their own home or, if they are in hospital, on the ward to undertake a brief assessment of needs to ensure that we at Stable Court can meet their requirements. We will also chat about admission into residential care and attempt to answer any questions or concerns. Initial admission is always for one months trial. During this time either the Resident or management may change their minds as to the suitability of a permanent arrangement.
